Games in the Dark

edited by Julianne Bentley

Take a walk on the wild side with a serving of kink: restraints, blindfolds, spankings, threesomes, and more — just a taste of danger to whet your appetite. But these games are meant to do more than just tease. While these men are getting a thrill, they're exploring their emotions, making peace with their wants and needs, and sometimes finding love along the way. Through that lens, we can see the truth: it takes trust to play fair. Come with us and play some games in the dark.

Fit to Be Tied by Ashlyn Kane

making cookie cutters? [Sep. 7th, 2009|08:15 pm]
Have any of you artsy foodies people done this?

I found a set of Kama Sutra cookie cutters, but they're $55 for a set of 4 (from Sweden), and that seems outrageous to me. I mean, it's thin metal, right? Should be easy...

Anyone ever done it or have suggestions?

Oh noes! Did I give or loan a blue wool cloche hat to anyone reading this? I need it for a wedding next month.

If I gave it, I'm happy to just borrow it. it's for a very small head.

airline stuff again [May. 3rd, 2009|05:33 pm]
[Tags|]

I know, I know - I've asked this a ton of times. Maybe if I tag it I won't have to ask again: When is the best time to buy airline tickets? 30 days before? 15 days? 50 days? 10 hours?

Why can I never remember this?

Help me out, please?

who wants a visitor? [Feb. 17th, 2009|08:32 pm]
OK, so I had another one of my wacky ideas and I'm just going with it: I want to do a road trip/book tour this spring. In April or May, probably.

I think I'll drive down to LA, stop and see my mom in Arizona, maybe head out to Texas, across the South to Florida, up to New York, and back across the Midwest to Chicago, to Seattle and down through Oregon back home.

Something that would make this actually feasible would be the possibility of staying with friends rather than paying for motels for two or three weeks. So if you know me fairly well and feel like it might be fun to have a houseguest for no more than two nights (I'm very tidy and I cook!), I'd love to combine some friend-visiting into my plans. I have several f-list friends I've met in person who can vouch for me not being a serial-killer or unduly pervy in non-pervy settings (i.e. I'm child-proof. Spouse- and parent-proof, too.)

Anyone? I can even bring an air mattress and my own pillow. ;)

Let me know ASAP if you're interested in hooking up so I can start seeing what bookstores are in what areas and if they'd be willing to carry my book/do an author signing/workshop.

Thanks!

(x-posted everywhere I go; sorry if you get inundated)

Wanton Hussy newsletter + free gifts [Feb. 13th, 2009|11:32 am]
I just sent out my February newsletter for my business and since there were several free gifts, I thought I'd share the info with all of you guys, too:

A Little Bit of Wantonness
February 13, 2009 Volume 2, Issue 1

A Note From the Wanton Hussy:

Happy Friday the 13th! Yes, I said “happy” - 13 used to be a lucky number, not un-lucky. Remember the “baker’s dozen”? That extra cinnamon roll was for luck!

In keeping what that theme, this month’s offering is loaded with surprises, special offers, suggestions and other indulgences, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Recently a community I am part of has collectively given a wonderful gift to a friend in need. I had the honor of coordinating that gift and let me tell you, it’s changed my perspective on life. In a time when people are getting laid off, when the economy is frightening, when there are catastrophic ice storms in the Midwest United States and lethal wildfires in Australia, when people everywhere are afraid of what’s coming next and holding on to what they have – a group of fewer than fifteen women contributed $400 to help someone. The average contribution was under $20 per person - less than the cost of a movie, book, or a few drinks from Starbucks. But all together, it added up. It is amazing to see what we can all do when we cooperate!

The experience has given me a real incentive to do more for others. Not monetarily, but often the little things are more valuable. Like smiling at a homeless person, meeting their eyes and saying hello as you acknowledge them as someone who counts even if you don’t have any spare change. Helping the elderly, or a mother struggling with a small child, by retuning the cart from the parking lot back to corral. Writing letters for a worth cause like Planned Parenthood. Just being your wacky, sexy, love-filled self and sharing that with the world around you as you go about your day is the greatest of gifts.

The light is growing – help it spread!

main article + free gifts )

For the pretty version, past articles, and all the other stuff I'm up to - including to signing up for my newsletter and get a free booklet - check out my website The Wanton Hussy.

condoms [Oct. 22nd, 2008|06:49 pm]
Hey, you all are smart and know stuff -

Anyone have any ideas where I could get a lot (like 50-100) condoms, for cheap? Or places to start asking. It's for a Halloween costume.

Ideally, I'd love it if I could get a bunch of expired ones that can't be used anyway.

Thoughts/tips/suggestions?

halloween? [Oct. 21st, 2008|04:59 pm]
So what is everybody doing for Halloween?

It's on a Friday night this year and I'm having the urge to dress up and be the Condom Fairy.

If I can't think of anything good to do, I'll just wander around Pacific, but I thought I'd see what y'all are up to.

Anyone? Anyone at all?

ETA: Does anyone have any wings I can borrow? Any color, any size. Even kid-size I can make my own straps for.

smut for a cause [Oct. 8th, 2008|07:20 pm]

Lifted from the Dreamspinner Press website...

Escape into one of our fantasies and make a difference in the real world. A 2006 report from the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force estimates that a third of homeless youth identify as LGBT. In New York City, this means that something like 8,000 to 10,000 youth are without shelter every night. Watch Queer Streets for more info.

Dreamspinner Press will donate 5% of all profits during the month of October to help the teens at Sylvia's Place in NYC. Winter is coming. Help us help them. Together we can create a real happily ever after.

so many projects! [Oct. 2nd, 2008|11:26 am]
[Tags|]

I've been super busy lately, working on...

+ getting my book sold in all the locally-owned bookshops (yay!)

+ creating a workshop called "Getting the Sex Life You Always Wanted" for a shop here in Santa Cruz tonight: http://www.purepleasureshop.com/events.php

+ creating a second guided meditation mp3 to share on my website - Balancing Your Chakras

+ Meeting Annie Sprinkle and implementing a lot of her suggestions of people to talk to and things to do

+ setting up a group of local small businesswomen to brainstorm collectively and see where we can work together

+ working at a convention for my erotica publisher

+ writing!

No wonder I feel a little stressed out and overwhelmed. I'm learning that I need to schedule not just some me-time but also writing time, meditating time, and Thinking About What I Really Want Next time.

Putting together the meditation and workshop has had the amusing benefit of forcing me to listen to the things coming out of my mouth and realize that I need to apply those points to my own life, too! Funny how giving advice and suggestions like that always gives me a head-up about what I need to be working on, too! :)

quince [Sep. 21st, 2008|04:43 pm]
Has anyone seen quince around the area, locally? At any of the farmers' markets or New Leaf/Shopper's Corner/Staff of Life?

I've found it occasionally at the Ben Lomond Market, but haven't seen any yet this year. I asked at the Felton farmers' market, but it's pretty small and it wasn't clear whether I'd missed the short quince season or they just didn't have any.

I know it's prime apple season - there's got to be some out there!

Tell me if you've seen any, please! :)
